Black History Month

Updated: Mar 1, 2022

Black history is an important aspect of many African Americans whose culture has been erased, changed, and altered all too many times. We stand together more than ever with the atrocities we've faced in the upcoming years.

We still stand to celebrate each other and the achievements made in this country. One of those being the brilliant HBCUs we’ve established all over the country. This month is for us to celebrate the accomplishments of our African American leaders who’ve paved the way for us to be where we are today. They’ve inspired the entire African American community to strive for greatness and beyond. So let's take this month to pay our respects to the ones who gave us a chance to prove ourselves to the entire world. In the words of the great Mae Jemison, “Never be limited by other people’s limited imaginations'. The sky's the limit during Black History Month.

“Never be limited by other people's limited imaginations.”

HBCU

For the seniors seeking potential HBCUs, we have teachers at Morrow High School who have fortunately been to HBCUs around the country. One of our HBCU alumnis, Mr Edwards was asked what was the main reason he went to an HBCU. He openly responded saying “Florida Memorial University to play basketball, then proceeded to transfer to Clark Atlanta University”. HBCUs tend to have major impacts in social and sport events, rivalries especially. Mr Edwards greatest memories “were the games verus Morris Brown and Morehouse, the energy and excitement would bring fans out of their seats”.

HBCUs are a great way to connect with others and make new friends. To all the HBCUs, we at Morrow salute you.
